For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Volvo V60 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The V60 has a standard Whiplash Protection System (WHIPS), which use a specially designed seat to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the WHIPS allows the backrest to travel backwards to cushion the occupants and the headrests move forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. At the same time the pretensioning seatbelts fire, removing slack from the belts. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The V60 has standard Post-impact braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The V60 has standard CTA Auto Brake that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the V60 and the Range Rover Evoque have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Volvo V60 weighs 560 pounds more than the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Volvo pays for scheduled maintenance on the V60 for 4 years and 40,000 miles. Volvo will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Land Rover doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Range Rover Evoque.

There are over 41 percent more Volvo dealers than there are Land Rover dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the V60’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the V60’s reliability 30 points higher than the Range Rover Evoque.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Volvo vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover With 28 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Volvo higher than Land Rover.

The V60’s 2.0 turbo/supercharged 4-cylinder hybrid produces 209 more horsepower (455 vs. 246) and 254 lbs.-ft. more torque (523 vs. 269) than the Range Rover Evoque’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the V60 T8 Polestar Engineered Extended Range running on electricity gets better mileage than the Range Rover Evoque (74 city/73 hwy MPGe vs. 20 city/27 hwy).

The V60 T8 Polestar Engineered Extended Range can travel with zero emissions for 41 miles. The Range Rover Evoque can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

The V60 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The V60 has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Range Rover Evoque. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

For better stopping power the V60’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Range Rover Evoque:

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the V60 is less expensive to operate than the Range Rover Evoque because typical repairs cost much less on the V60 than the Range Rover Evoque, including $174 less for a muffler, $68 less for front brake pads, $131 less for a starter, $119 less for fuel injection, $382 less for front struts and $21 less for a timing belt/chain.
