Compare the2024 Toyota bZ4XVS 2024 Jaguar I-Pace

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Toyota bZ4X are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar I-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the bZ4X are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Toyota bZ4X has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The bZ4X has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The bZ4X has a standard Parking Support Brake that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the bZ4X AWD’s standard Downhill Assist Control allows you to creep down safely. The I-Pace doesn’t offer Downhill Assist Control.

The bZ4X Limited has a standard Bird’s Eye View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The I-Pace only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the bZ4X and the I-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

There are almost 7 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the bZ4X’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the bZ4X’s reliability 17 points higher than the I-Pace.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in long-term dependability. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Jaguar is rated below average.

For greater off-road capability the bZ4X has a 1.6 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the I-Pace (8.1 vs. 6.5 inches), allowing the bZ4X to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Toyota bZ4X may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 500 pounds less than the Jaguar I-Pace.

The bZ4X is 6 inches narrower than the I-Pace, making the bZ4X easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The bZ4X has 1.2 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room, .3 inches more rear legroom and 1.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the I-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the bZ4X’s rear seats recline. The I-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The bZ4X has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the I-Pace with its rear seat up (27.7 vs. 25.3 cubic feet). The bZ4X has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the I-Pace with its rear seat folded (56.9 vs. 53.6 cubic feet).

The bZ4X Limited’s Advanced Park can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The I-Pace’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

The bZ4X is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

The Toyota bZ4X outsold the Jaguar I-Pace by over 18 to one during 2023.
