The Porsche 718 Boxster has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Type doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the 718 Boxster and the F-Type have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes and blind spot warning systems.

The 718 Boxster’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Type’s (12 vs. 6 years).

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the 718 Boxster’s reliability 20 points higher than the F-Type.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the 718 Boxster third among compact premium sporty cars in their 2023 Initial Quality Study. The F-Type isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in initial quality. With 18 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in long-term dependability. With 30 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Jaguar is rated below average.

The flat cylinder configuration of the boxer engine in the 718 Boxster lowers its center of gravity, enhancing handling stability. The F-Type doesn’t offer a boxer engine configuration.

On the EPA test cycle the 718 Boxster gets better mileage than the F-Type:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0/Spyder’s fuel efficiency. The F-Type doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the 718 Boxster’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The F-Type doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The 718 Boxster offers a manual transmission for better acceleration, control and sportiness. The F-Type doesn’t offer a manual transmission.

The 718 Boxster offers an optional sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The F-Type doesn’t offer an SMG.

For better stopping power the 718 Spyder RS CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the F-Type:

The 718 Boxster Spyder RS offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The F-Type doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The 718 Boxster stops shorter than the F-Type:

The 718 Boxster S handles at 1.10 G’s, while the F-Type R75 Convertible pulls only .98 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The 718 Boxster S executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the F-Type R75 Convertible (23.1 seconds @ .89 average G’s vs. 24.2 seconds @ .85 average G’s).

The Porsche 718 Boxster may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 to 750 pounds less than the Jaguar F-Type.

The 718 Boxster is 3.6 inches shorter than the F-Type, making the 718 Boxster easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Porsche 718 Boxster amounts to more than styling. The 718 Boxster offers aerodynamic coefficients of drag from .31 to .34 Cd (depending on bodystyle and options). That is lower than the F-Type (.35 to .36) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the 718 Boxster get better fuel mileage.

The 718 Boxster has a much larger trunk with its top down than the F-Type Convertible (9.6 vs. 7.3 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the 718 Boxster’s available trunk can be opened just by holding your hand near the emblem on the trunk, leaving your hands completely free. The F-Type doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Porsche third in service department satisfaction. With a 21% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 10th.

The 718 Boxster’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The F-Type does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the 718 Boxster has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the 718 Boxster has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The F-Type doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

The F-Type’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The 718 Boxster’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the 718 Boxster (except Manual) offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The F-Type doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

With optional PCM Voice Control, the 718 Boxster offers the driver hands free control of the radio and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The F-Type doesn’t offer a voice control system.
