Safety

The McLaren GT has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Roma doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the McLaren GT and the Roma have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and front and rear parking sensors.

Warranty

The McLaren GT’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the Roma’s (10 vs. 3 years).

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the McLaren GT has larger rear tires than the Roma (295/30R21 vs. 285/35R20).

The McLaren GT’s 295/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Roma’s standard 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the McLaren GT has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the Roma.

Chassis

For excellent aerodynamics, the McLaren GT has standard flush composite headlights. The Roma has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

Cargo Capacity

The McLaren GT has a much larger trunk than the Roma (20.2 vs. 10.3 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Roma, the McLaren GT offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The McLaren GT’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Roma’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.
