Safety

The McLaren GT has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The NSX doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the McLaren GT and the NSX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Warranty

The GT comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The NSX’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The McLaren GT’s corrosion warranty is 5 years longer than the NSX’s (10 vs. 5 years).

Engine

The McLaren GT’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 12 more horsepower (612 vs. 600) than the NSX’s 3.5 turbo V6 hybrid.

Tires and Wheels

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the McLaren GT has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Only 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are available on the NSX.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the McLaren GT’s wheelbase is 1.8 inches longer than on the NSX (105.3 inches vs. 103.5 inches).

The McLaren GT handles at 1.01 G’s, while the NSX Type S pulls only .99 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

Chassis

The McLaren GT may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 500 to 600 pounds less than the Acura NSX.

Cargo Capacity

The McLaren GT has a much larger trunk than the NSX (20.2 vs. 4.4 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

When two different drivers share the McLaren GT, the optional memory system makes it convenient for both. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver and front passenger’s seat positions, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle. The NSX doesn’t offer a memory system.

The McLaren GT’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The NSX doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the McLaren GT offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The NSX doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Recommendations

The McLaren GT outsold the Acura NSX by 5% during 2022.
