J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Maserati vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Maserati above average in initial quality. With 19 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

The Ghibli Modena’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 22 more horsepower (424 vs. 402) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (406 vs. 369) than the AMG C-Class Sedan’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Ghibli Trofeo’s standard 3.8 turbo V8 produces 170 more horsepower (572 vs. 402) and 169 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 369) than the AMG C-Class Sedan’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

The Ghibli has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the AMG C-Class Sedan (21.1 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Ghibli has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The AMG C-Class Sedan doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Ghibli’s standard 275/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the AMG C-Class Sedan’s standard 45 series tires. The Ghibli’s optional 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the AMG C-Class Sedan’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Ghibli has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the AMG C-Class Sedan. The Ghibli’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the AMG C-Class Sedan.
