The McLaren Artura has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 911 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the Artura and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

The Artura can travel with zero emissions for 11 miles. The 911 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Artura’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The 911 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Artura has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 911 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The 911 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Artura’s wheelbase is 7.4 inches longer than on the 911 (103.9 inches vs. 96.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Artura is 2.3 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

The Artura’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (41.9% to 58.1%) than the 911’s (39.5% to 60.5%). This gives the Artura more stable handling and braking.

The Artura handles at 1.08 G’s, while the 911 Carrera 4 GTS pulls only 1.03 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Artura has a larger trunk than the 911 Coupe with its rear seat up (5.3 vs. 4.6 cubic feet).

With its coupe body style and remote trunk release lockout, the Artura offers cargo security. The 911’s non-lockable folding seat defeats cargo security.
