The McLaren Artura has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 812 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Artura’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The 812 doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Artura offers an optional 360-degree park assist to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The 812 only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Artura and the 812 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and front and rear parking sensors.

The Artura comes with a full 5-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 812’s 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty expires 2 years sooner.

The Artura’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the 812’s (10 vs. 3 years).

Regenerative brakes improve the Artura’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The 812 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the McLaren Artura higher (6 out of 10) than the Ferrari 812 (3). This means the Artura produces up to 23.4 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the 812 every 15,000 miles.

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the McLaren Artura, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the 812.

For better maneuverability, the Artura’s turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the 812’s (39.3 feet vs. 41.1 feet).

The McLaren Artura may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 pounds less than the Ferrari 812.

The Artura is 6.1 inches shorter than the 812, making the Artura easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Artura’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The 812’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The Artura’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The 812’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

Keyless Entry and Lock standard on the Artura allows you to unlock the driver’s door and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Ferrari 812’s Keyless Start doesn’t unlock the doors.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the Artura detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The 812 doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Artura offers an optional Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The 812 doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

The Artura’s standard separate stalk mounted cruise control on/off switch is conveniently located with the rest of the cruise controls. The 812’s standard cruise control must be turned on with a hard to find switch on the dashboard.
