To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the MC20’s optional Rear Cross Path uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The 911 doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

Both the MC20 and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, blind spot warning systems and around view monitors.

The MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 242 more horsepower (621 vs. 379) and 207 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 331) than the 911’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 178 more horsepower (621 vs. 443) and 148 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 390) than the 911 S’ standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 148 more horsepower (621 vs. 473) and 118 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 420) than the 911 GTS/Dakar’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder.

The MC20 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 911 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati MC20 higher (5 out of 10) than the Porsche 911 (3 to 5). This means the MC20 produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the 911 every 15,000 miles.

For better traction, the MC20 has larger tires than the 911 (F:245/35R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20).

The MC20’s 245/35R20 front and 305/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911 Dakar’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the MC20 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front wheels are standard on the 911.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the MC20’s wheelbase is 9.8 inches longer than on the 911 (106.3 inches vs. 96.5 inches). The MC20’s wheelbase is 9.6 inches longer than on the 911 GT3 (106.3 inches vs. 96.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the MC20 is 3.6 inches wider in the front and 3.3 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

The MC20 Coupe handles at 1.08 G’s, while the 911 Carrera 4 GTS pulls only 1.03 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The MC20’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The 911 doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

The MC20 Coupe has a larger trunk than the 911 Coupe with its rear seat up (5.3 vs. 4.6 cubic feet).

The MC20 Cielo has a larger trunk with its top down than the 911 Cabriolet with its top down (5.3 vs. 4.6 cubic feet).

The MC20 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The 911 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The MC20’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 911.

If the windows are left open on the MC20 the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the 911 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati MC20 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The 911 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
