The MC20 offers optional Automated Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The 296 doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The MC20 Cielo has a standard Surround View System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The 296 only offers a rear monitor and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the front or sides.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the MC20’s optional Rear Cross Path uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The 296 doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The MC20 has standard SOS and Assist Call, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The 296 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the MC20 and the 296 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available blind spot warning systems.

The MC20 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 296’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The MC20’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the 296’s (4 vs. 3 years).

There are almost 3 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Ferrari dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the MC20’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the MC20 gets better fuel mileage than the 296 running its gasoline engine (15 city/25 hwy vs. 15 city/21 hwy).

The MC20 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 296 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The MC20’s 305/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 296’s standard 35 series tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the MC20’s wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than on the 296 (106.3 inches vs. 102.4 inches).

The MC20 Coupe has a larger trunk than the 296 GTB (5.3 vs. 5 cubic feet).

The MC20 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The 296 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the MC20 detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The 296 doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The MC20 offers optional heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the 296.

The MC20’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The 296 doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.
