Both the Grecale and GLC have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Grecale has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The GLC’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Maserati Grecale has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The GLC doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Grecale. But it costs extra on the GLC.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Grecale’s standard Hill Descend Control allows you to creep down safely. The GLC doesn’t offer Hill Descend Control.

Both the Grecale and the GLC have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Maserati vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Maserati above average in initial quality. With 19 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

The Grecale GT’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 41 more horsepower (296 vs. 255) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (332 vs. 295) than the GLC’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Grecale Modena’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 70 more horsepower (325 vs. 255) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (332 vs. 295) than the GLC’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Grecale Trofeo’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 268 more horsepower (523 vs. 255) and 162 lbs.-ft. more torque (457 vs. 295) than the GLC’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Grecale Trofeo’s fuel efficiency. The GLC doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Grecale Trofeo’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The GLC doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Grecale’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the GLC:

The Grecale GT’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GLC’s standard 60 series tires. The Grecale’s optional 255/40R21 front and 295/35R21 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the GLC’s optional 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Grecale GT has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the GLC. The Grecale’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the GLC.

The Grecale offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The GLC’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Grecale has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Grecale’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The GLC doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Grecale’s wheelbase is 1.1 inches longer than on the GLC (114.2 inches vs. 113.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Grecale is 2.1 inches wider in the rear than on the GLC.

The design of the Maserati Grecale amounts to more than styling. The Grecale has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .326 Cd. That is significantly lower than the GLC (.39) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Grecale get better fuel mileage.

Maximum trailer towing in the Mercedes GLC is limited to 5291 pounds. The Grecale offers up to a 5516 lbs. towing capacity.

The Grecale’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The GLC does not have an oil pressure gauge.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Grecale to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The GLC doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Grecale has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the GLC only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.
