Safety

Both the Huracán and the AMG SL have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available rear parking sensors.

Warranty

The Huracán comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car. The AMG SL’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance on the Huracán for 5 years and 75000 miles. Lamborghini will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 5 visits). Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the AMG SL.

Fuel Economy and Range

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Huracán’s fuel efficiency. The AMG SL doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Huracán has 2.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the AMG SL (21.1 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Huracán has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The AMG SL doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Brakes and Stopping

The Huracán stops much shorter than the AMG SL:

Tires and Wheels

The Huracán Technica/STO’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the AMG SL’s optional 35 series front tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the Huracán can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The AMG SL doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Huracán’s turning circle is 3 feet tighter than the AMG SL’s (37.7 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

Chassis

The Lamborghini Huracán may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 900 to 1350 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG SL.

The Huracán is 7.6 inches shorter in height than the AMG SL, making the Huracán much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

Servicing Ease

The Huracán offers an optional under hood light to help in making nighttime maintenance checks, adding fluids, etc. The AMG SL doesn’t offer an under hood light.

Ergonomics

The Huracán’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The AMG SL does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Huracán has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The AMG SL doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Model Availability

The Lamborghini Huracán comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Mercedes AMG SL isn’t available as a coupe.

The Huracán is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The AMG SL doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
