Tires and Wheels
The 500e’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the MX-30’s standard 55 series tires.
Suspension and Handling
The 500e has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the 500e flat and controlled during cornering. The MX-30’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.
The 500e has variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The MX-30 doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.
For better maneuverability, the 500e’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the MX-30’s (31.5 feet vs. 34.8 feet).
Chassis
The Fiat 500e may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 pounds less than the Mazda MX-30.
The 500e is 2 feet, 6.3 inches shorter than the MX-30, making the 500e easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
Passenger Space
The 500e has .8 inches more front headroom and .2 inches more front legroom than the MX-30.
Servicing Ease
The 500e uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The MX-30 uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.
Ergonomics
To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Fiat 500e has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The MX-30 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
