Compare the2024 Ferrari RomaVS 2024 Aston Martin DB12

2024 Ferrari Roma
2024 Aston Martin DB12

Safety

The Roma has standard GPS Response System, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The DB12 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Roma and the DB12 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and front and rear parking sensors.

Warranty

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Roma for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the DB12.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Roma gets better fuel mileage than the DB12 (17 city/22 hwy vs. 15 city/22 hwy).

The Roma has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The DB12 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari Roma higher (6 out of 10) than the Aston Martin DB12 (3). This means the Roma produces up to 23.4 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the DB12 every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The Roma offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The DB12 doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Roma is 1.1 inches wider in the rear than on the DB12.

For better maneuverability, the Roma’s turning circle is 5.3 feet tighter than the DB12’s (35.4 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

Chassis

The Ferrari Roma may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 100 to 250 pounds less than the Aston Martin DB12.

Passenger Space

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Roma Coupe a Subcompact car, while the DB12 is rated a Minicompact.

The Roma Coupe has 8 cubic feet more passenger volume than the DB12 (80 vs. 72).

Cargo Capacity

The Roma Coupe has a larger trunk than the DB12 Coupe (10.3 vs. 9.3 cubic feet).

The Roma’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The DB12 doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

Ergonomics

The Roma’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The DB12 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Roma’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The DB12’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The Roma’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The DB12 has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.
