Both the Purosangue and the X5 M have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Safety
Warranty
The Purosangue comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The X5 M’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Purosangue for 4 years and unlimited miles longer than BMW pays for maintenance for the X5 M (7/unlimited vs. 3/36,000).
Engine
The Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 115 more horsepower (715 vs. 600) than the X5 M’s standard 4.4 turbo V8. The Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 98 more horsepower (715 vs. 617) than the X5 M Competition’s standard 4.4 turbo V8.
Fuel Economy and Range
The Purosangue has 4.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the X5 M (26.4 vs. 21.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari Purosangue higher (6 out of 10) than the BMW X5 M (3). This means the Purosangue produces up to 23.4 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the X5 M every 15,000 miles.
Transmission
The Purosangue offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The X5 M doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
Brakes and Stopping
The Purosangue has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The X5 M doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.
Tires and Wheels
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Purosangue has standard 22-inch front and 23-inch rear wheels. Smaller 21-inch wheels are standard on the X5 M. The X5 M’s largest wheels are only 21-inches in the front and 22-inches in the rear.
Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires optional on the Purosangue can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The X5 M doesn’t offer run-flat tires.
Suspension and Handling
The Purosangue has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Purosangue’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The X5 M doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Purosangue’s wheelbase is 1.8 inches longer than on the X5 M (118.8 inches vs. 117 inches).
For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Purosangue is 1.5 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than on the X5 M.
Chassis
The Ferrari Purosangue may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 950 pounds less than the BMW X5 M.
Cargo Capacity
The Purosangue’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The X5 M’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.
Ergonomics
The Purosangue’s power side reverse swing out doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the sport utility. The X5 M doesn’t offer a power rear door.
Both the Purosangue and the X5 M offer optional massaging front seats. The Purosangue also has standard massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the X5 M.
To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Ferrari Purosangue has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the X5 M.
