2023 Bentley Bentayga2024 Ferrari Purosangue

Safety

The Purosangue’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Bentayga.

The Purosangue’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Purosangue and the Bentayga have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Purosangue for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Bentley doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Bentayga.

Engine

The Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 272 more horsepower (715 vs. 443) and 12 lbs.-ft. more torque (528 vs. 516) than the Bentayga Hybrid’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid. The Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 173 more horsepower (715 vs. 542) than the Bentayga’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 89 more horsepower (715 vs. 626) than the Bentayga SPEED’s standard 6.0 turbo 12-cylinder.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Purosangue has 6.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the Bentayga Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (26.4 vs. 19.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Purosangue has 3.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Bentayga’s standard fuel tank (26.4 vs. 22.5 gallons).

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari Purosangue higher (6 out of 10) than the Bentley Bentayga (3). This means the Purosangue produces up to 23.4 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Bentayga every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The Purosangue offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Bentayga doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Purosangue’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Bentayga doesn’t offer launch control.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the Purosangue has larger rear tires than the Bentayga (315/30R23 vs. 285/45R21).

The Purosangue’s 255/35R22 front and 315/30R23 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Bentayga’s standard 45 series tires. The Purosangue’s tires are lower profile than the Bentayga’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Purosangue has standard 22-inch front and 23-inch rear wheels. Smaller 21-inch wheels are standard on the Bentayga. The Bentayga’s largest wheels are only 22-inches.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires optional on the Purosangue can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Bentayga doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Purosangue is 1.9 inches wider in the front and .5 inches wider in the rear than on the Bentayga.

The Purosangue’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (49% to 51%) than the Bentayga’s (56% to 44%). This gives the Purosangue more stable handling and braking.

Chassis

The Ferrari Purosangue may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 850 to 1350 pounds less than the Bentley Bentayga.

The Purosangue is 6 inches shorter than the Bentayga V8, making the Purosangue easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Cargo Capacity

The Purosangue has a much larger cargo volume than the Bentayga with its rear seat up (16.7 vs. 7.5 cubic feet).

The Purosangue’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Bentayga w/Four Seat Comfort Specification doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Ergonomics

The Purosangue’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Bentayga’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.
