Both the Purosangue and the XM have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Safety
Warranty
The Purosangue comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The XM’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Purosangue for 4 years and unlimited miles longer than BMW pays for maintenance for the XM (7/unlimited vs. 3/36,000).
Engine
The Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 71 more horsepower (715 vs. 644) than the XM’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid.
Fuel Economy and Range
The Purosangue has 8.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the XM (26.4 vs. 18.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
Transmission
The Purosangue offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The XM doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
Brakes and Stopping
The Purosangue has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The XM doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.
Tires and Wheels
The Purosangue’s 255/35R22 front and 315/30R23 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the XM’s 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Purosangue has standard 23-inch rear wheels. Smaller 22-inch wheels are standard on the XM.
Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires optional on the Purosangue can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The XM doesn’t offer run-flat tires.
Suspension and Handling
The Purosangue has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Purosangue’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The XM doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Purosangue is .4 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than on the XM.
Chassis
The Ferrari Purosangue may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1600 pounds less than the BMW XM.
The Purosangue is 5.4 inches shorter than the XM, making the Purosangue easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
Passenger Space
For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Purosangue’s rear seats recline. The XM’s rear seats don’t recline.
Cargo Capacity
The Purosangue’s standard folding rear seats are split to accommodate bulky cargo. The XM’s standard single piece folding rear seat is not as flexible; long cargo and a passenger can’t share the rear seat.
Ergonomics
Both the Purosangue and the XM offer available massaging front seats. The Purosangue also has standard massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the XM.
