Both the 812 and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rear parking sensors and available rearview cameras.

Safety
Warranty
The 812 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 911’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 812 for 6 years and unlimited miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the 911 (7/unlimited vs. 1/10,000).
Engine
The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 410 more horsepower (789 vs. 379) and 199 lbs.-ft. more torque (530 vs. 331) than the 911’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 346 more horsepower (789 vs. 443) and 140 lbs.-ft. more torque (530 vs. 390) than the 911 S’ standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 316 more horsepower (789 vs. 473) and 110 lbs.-ft. more torque (530 vs. 420) than the 911 GTS/Dakar’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 149 more horsepower (789 vs. 640) than the 911 Turbo S’ standard 3.7 turbo 6-cylinder.
Fuel Economy and Range
The 812 has 7.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the 911’s standard fuel tank (24.3 vs. 16.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
The 812 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 911 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Brakes and Stopping
For better stopping power the 812’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the 911:

Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the 812 has larger tires than the 911 (F:275/35R20 & R:315/35R20 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20). The 812’s front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 911 (F:275/35R20 & R:315/35R20 vs. F:255/35R20 & R:315/30R21).
The 812’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911 Dakar’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the 812 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front wheels are standard on the 911.
The 812 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the 911; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.
Suspension and Handling
The 812 offers an optional automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The 911 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the 812’s wheelbase is 10.6 inches longer than on the 911 (107.1 inches vs. 96.5 inches).
For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the 812 is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 3.2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.
The 812’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (47% to 53%) than the 911’s (39.5% to 60.5%). This gives the 812 more stable handling and braking.
Chassis
The design of the Ferrari 812 amounts to more than styling. The 812 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .288 Cd. That is lower than the 911 (.31 to .33) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the 812 get better fuel mileage.
The 812’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The 911 doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.
Passenger Space
The 812 has 1.8 inches more front legroom and 2.9 inches more front shoulder room than the 911.
Cargo Capacity
The 812 GTS has a much larger trunk with its top down than the 911 Cabriolet with its top down (7.42 vs. 4.6 cubic feet).
Ergonomics
In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The 812 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The 911 doesn’t offer headlight washers.
