The Aston Martin DBS has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 911 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The DBS has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the 911’s blind spot costs extra.

Both the DBS and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The DBS comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 911’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the DBS’ fuel efficiency. The 911 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The DBS has 4.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the 911’s standard fuel tank (21.1 vs. 16.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the DBS’ standard brake rotors are larger than those on the 911:

For better traction, the DBS has larger tires than the 911 (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20). The DBS’ front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 911 (265/35R21 vs. 255/35R20).

The DBS’ 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911 Dakar’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DBS has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are standard on the 911. The 911’s largest wheels are only 20-inches in the front and 21-inches in the rear.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the DBS’ wheelbase is 13.9 inches longer than on the 911 (110.4 inches vs. 96.5 inches). The DBS’ wheelbase is 13.7 inches longer than on the 911 GT3 (110.4 inches vs. 96.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the DBS is 2.9 inches wider in the front and 3.2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

The DBS’ front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the 911’s (39.5% to 60.5%). This gives the DBS more stable handling and braking.

The DBS has .7 inches more front headroom, 2.9 inches more front legroom, 1.7 inches more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear legroom and .7 inches more rear shoulder room than the 911.

The DBS Coupe has a much larger trunk than the 911 Coupe with its rear seat up (9.5 vs. 4.6 cubic feet).

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the 911, the DBS has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The DBS’ standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 911.

If the windows are left open on the DBS the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the 911 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the DBS has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the DBS has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The 911 doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.
