The DBS’ blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The Artura doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

Both the DBS and the Artura have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Aston Martin DBS weighs 765 to 985 pounds more than the McLaren Artura. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Artura’s redline is at 8500 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The DBS has a 7200 RPM redline.

The DBS’ standard 5.2 turbo V12 produces 44 more horsepower (715 vs. 671) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 531) than the Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid. The DBS 770 Ultimate Edition’s standard 5.2 turbo V12 produces 89 more horsepower (760 vs. 671) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 531) than the Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the DBS’ fuel efficiency. The Artura doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The DBS has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the Artura (21.1 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the DBS has larger tires than the Artura (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. F:235/35R19 & R:295/35R20).

The DBS’ 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Artura’s standard 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DBS has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are available on the Artura.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the DBS’ wheelbase is 6.5 inches longer than on the Artura (110.4 inches vs. 103.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the DBS is .6 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the Artura.

The DBS’ front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the Artura’s (41.9% to 58.1%). This gives the DBS more stable handling and braking.

The DBS has standard seating for 4 passengers; the Artura can only carry 2.

The DBS Coupe has a much larger trunk than the Artura (9.5 vs. 5.3 cubic feet).

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the Artura, the DBS has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The DBS’ standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Artura.

If the windows are left open on the DBS the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Artura can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Keyless Entry and Go standard on the DBS allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The McLaren Artura’s Keyless Entry and Lock doesn’t unlock the trunk.

The DBS’ power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Artura’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the DBS keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Artura doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the DBS’ optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Artura doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the DBS has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Artura doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

The DBS’ Auto Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Artura doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Aston Martin DBS comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the McLaren Artura isn’t available as a convertible.
