Compare the2024 Aston Martin DBSVS 2024 Bugatti Chiron

The Aston Martin DBS has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Chiron doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the DBS and the Chiron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and around view monitors.

On the EPA test cycle the DBS gets better mileage than the Chiron:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the DBS’ fuel efficiency. The Chiron doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the DBS’ engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Chiron doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Aston Martin DBS higher (3 out of 10) than the Bugatti Chiron (1). This means the DBS produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Chiron every 15,000 miles.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Aston Martin DBS, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Chiron.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DBS has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch front wheels are available on the Chiron.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the DBS’ wheelbase is 3.7 inches longer than on the Chiron (110.4 inches vs. 106.7 inches).

The DBS’ front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the Chiron’s (43% to 57%). This gives the DBS more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the DBS’ turning circle is 9.1 feet tighter than the Chiron’s (40.7 feet vs. 49.8 feet).

The DBS has standard seating for 4 passengers; the Chiron can only carry 2.

The DBS has 18 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Chiron (72 vs. 54).

The DBS Coupe has a much larger trunk than the Chiron (9.5 vs. 2 cubic feet).

The DBS’ rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Chiron’s

Optional air-conditioned seats in the DBS keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Chiron doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the DBS’ optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Chiron doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The DBS’ standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Chiron doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

The DBS’ standard separate stalk mounted cruise control is close at hand. The Chiron’s standard cruise control is on an over-crowded turn signal stalk.

Standard smartphone integration for the DBS allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones so they can stay connected without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The Chiron doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.

The DBS’ Auto Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Chiron doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Aston Martin DBS comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Bugatti Chiron isn’t available as a convertible.
