The DBS has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the M8’s blind spot costs extra.

The DBS comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The M8’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The DBS’ standard 5.2 turbo V12 produces 98 more horsepower (715 vs. 617) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 553) than the M8’s 4.4 turbo V8. The DBS 770 Ultimate Edition’s standard 5.2 turbo V12 produces 143 more horsepower (760 vs. 617) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 553) than the M8’s 4.4 turbo V8.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the DBS’ fuel efficiency. The M8 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The DBS has a gallon more fuel capacity than the M8 (21.1 vs. 20.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Aston Martin DBS may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 pounds less than the BMW M8.

The DBS is 6.3 inches shorter than the M8 Coupe/Convertible, making the DBS easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The DBS Coupe has 3 inches more front legroom and 1.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the M8 Coupe.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the M8, the DBS has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the DBS has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the DBS has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The M8 doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.
