The DB12’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The Huracán doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The DB12 has a standard Birds-eye Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Huracán only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The DB12’s blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The Huracán doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the DB12’s standard Rear Cross Traffic Assist uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Huracán doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The DB12’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Huracán doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the DB12 and the Huracán have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Reliability

The Huracán’s redline is at 8500 to 8700 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The DB12 has a 7000 RPM redline.

Engine

The DB12’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 69 more horsepower (671 vs. 602) and 177 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 413) than the Huracán Sterrato’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10. The DB12’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 41 more horsepower (671 vs. 630) and 147 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 443) than the Huracán Evo’s optional 5.2 DOHC V10. The DB12’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 40 more horsepower (671 vs. 631) and 173 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 417) than the Huracán STO’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Aston Martin DB12 higher (3 out of 10) than the Lamborghini Huracán (1). This means the DB12 produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Huracán every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Aston Martin DB12, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Huracán.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the DB12’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Huracán:

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The DB12 has a standard Hydraulic Brake Assist to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Huracán doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the DB12 has larger tires than the Huracán (F:275/35R21 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:285/40R19). The DB12’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Huracán (F:275/35R21 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:245/30R20 & R:305/30R20).

The DB12’s 275/35R21 front and 325/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Huracán Sterrato’s standard 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DB12 has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Huracán. The Huracán’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the DB12’s wheelbase is 7.3 inches longer than on the Huracán Technica Coupe (110.4 inches vs. 103.1 inches).

The DB12’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (48% to 52%) than the Huracán’s (43% to 57%). This gives the DB12 more stable handling and braking.

Passenger Space

The DB12 has standard seating for 4 passengers; the Huracán can only carry 2.

The DB12 has 26 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Huracán (72 vs. 46).

Cargo Capacity

The DB12 Coupe has a much larger trunk than the Huracán Coupe (9.3 vs. 3.5 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the DB12’s trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Huracán doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the DB12 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lamborghini doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Huracán.

Ergonomics

When three different drivers share the DB12, the memory system makes it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver and front passenger’s seat positions, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle. The Huracán doesn’t offer a memory system.

The DB12’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Huracán doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The DB12’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Huracán’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the DB12 has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the DB12 has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The Huracán doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

The DB12’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Huracán’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the DB12 detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Huracán doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the DB12 has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Huracán doesn’t offer cornering lights. The DB12 also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the DB12 keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Huracán doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the DB12’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Huracán doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the DB12 has a standard Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Huracán doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the DB12 has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Huracán doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

The DB12’s Auto Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Huracán doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
