The Aston Martin DB12 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The SF90 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The DB12’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The SF90 doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The DB12 has a standard Birds-eye Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The SF90 only offers a rear monitor and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the front or sides.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the DB12’s standard Rear Cross Traffic Assist uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The SF90 doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The DB12’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The SF90 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the DB12 and the SF90 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Warranty

The DB12’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the SF90’s (10 vs. 3 years).

Reliability

The SF90’s redline is at 8000 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The DB12 has a 7000 RPM redline.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the DB12 gets better fuel mileage than the SF90 Coupe with its standard engine running its gasoline engine (15 city/22 hwy vs. 16 city/20 hwy).

On the EPA test cycle the DB12 gets better fuel mileage than the SF90 Spider with its standard engine running its gasoline engine (15 city/22 hwy vs. 16 city/19 hwy).

The DB12 has 2.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the SF90 (20.5 vs. 18 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the DB12 has larger tires than the SF90 (F:275/35R21 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:255/35R20 & R:315/30R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DB12 has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the SF90.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the DB12’s wheelbase is 6.1 inches longer than on the SF90 (110.4 inches vs. 104.3 inches).

The DB12’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (48% to 52%) than the SF90’s (45% to 55%). This gives the DB12 more stable handling and braking.

Passenger Space

The DB12 has standard seating for 4 passengers; the SF90 can only carry 2.

Cargo Capacity

The DB12 Coupe has a much larger trunk than the SF90 Coupe (9.3 vs. 2.6 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the DB12’s trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The SF90 doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Servicing Ease

The DB12 uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The SF90 uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory seat in the SF90, the DB12 has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The DB12’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The SF90’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The DB12’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The SF90’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the DB12 has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the DB12 has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The SF90 doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

Keyless Entry and Go standard on the DB12 allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Ferrari SF90’s Push-button start doesn’t unlock the doors or the trunk.

The DB12 has standard heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the SF90.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the DB12 keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The SF90 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the DB12’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The SF90 doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The DB12’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The SF90 doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Aston Martin DB12 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The SF90 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The DB12’s Auto Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The SF90 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
