Compare the2024 Chevrolet Blazer EVVS 2024 Genesis Electrified GV70

The Chevrolet Blazer EV has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Blazer EV and the Electrified GV70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Genesis vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 10 more problems per 100 vehicles, Genesis is rated lower.

On the EPA test cycle the Blazer EV gets better mileage than the Electrified GV70 (103 city/88 hwy vs. 98 city/83 hwy MPGe).

The Blazer EV can travel longer on a full charge than the Electrified GV70 (279 miles vs. 236 miles).

For better traction, the Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Electrified GV70 (275/45R21 vs. 265/45R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Blazer EV RS has standard 21-inch wheels. The Electrified GV70’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Genesis Electrified GV70 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 8.6 inches longer than on the Electrified GV70 (121.8 inches vs. 113.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Blazer EV is 1.2 inches wider in the front and .7 inches wider in the rear than on the Electrified GV70.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Blazer EV uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Blazer EV is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Motor Trend performed a comparison test in its January 2024 issue and the Chevrolet Blazer EV RS 4x4 won out over the Genesis Electrified GV70 Prestige.

Motor Trend selected the Blazer EV as their 2024 Sport Utility of the Year. The Electrified GV70 was Sport Utility of the Year in 2022.

The Chevrolet Blazer outsold the Genesis GV70 by almost three to one during 2023.
