Both the G90 and E-Class Sedan have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The G90 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The E-Class Sedan’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the G90 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The G90 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the G90. But it costs extra on the E-Class Sedan.

The G90’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the E-Class Sedan.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the G90 has standard Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and automatically engage the brakes. Mercedes charges extra for Rear Cross-Traffic Alert on the E-Class Sedan.

Both the G90 and the E-Class Sedan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and driver alert monitors.

The Genesis G90 weighs 606 to 1368 pounds more than the Mercedes E-Class Sedan. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Genesis G90 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2024 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned an “Acceptable” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The E-Class Sedan has not yet been fully evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The G90 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The E-Class Sedan’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the G90 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the E-Class Sedan. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the E-Class Sedan ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The G90’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the E-Class Sedan’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the G90 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the E-Class Sedan.

For better traction and acceleration, the G90 has larger rear tires than the E-Class Sedan (275/40R20 vs. 245/45R18).

The G90 3.5T’s standard 275/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the E-Class Sedan’s standard 45 series tires. The G90 3.5T e-SC’s 275/35R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series profile than the E 350 Sedan’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the G90 3.5T has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the E-Class Sedan. The G90 3.5T e-SC’s 21-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the E 350 Sedan.

The G90 3.5T has a standard space-saver spare (not available on 3.5T e-SC) so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the E-Class Sedan; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the G90’s wheelbase is 9.5 inches longer than on the E-Class Sedan (125.2 inches vs. 115.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the G90 is 2.2 inches wider in the front and 2.3 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the E-Class Sedan.

The G90’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50.6% to 49.4%) than the E-Class Sedan’s (54.2% to 45.8%). This gives the G90 more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the G90 3.5T’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the E 350 Sedan’s (37.1 feet vs. 38.1 feet).

A power rear sunshade and rear side window sunshades are standard in the G90 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The G90 has standard front air conditioned seats and the G90 3.5T e-SC also has them in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The G90 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the E-Class Sedan.

The G90 has standard massaging front seats. Massaging front seats cost extra on the E-Class Sedan. The G90 3.5T e-SC also has standard massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the E-Class Sedan.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Genesis G90 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the E-Class Sedan. The G90 also offers Qi charging in the rear seat. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer wireless charging in its rear seat.

The G90’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The E-Class Sedan’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
