Compare the2024 Infiniti QX50VS 2024 Lexus UX

The QX50 Sport/Sensory/Autograph has a standard Around View® Monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The UX only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the QX50 and the UX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available all wheel drive.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Infiniti QX50 is safer than the Lexus UX:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Infiniti QX50 is safer than the Lexus UX:

The QX50 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The UX’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

The QX50’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the UX’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Infiniti pays for scheduled maintenance on the QX50 for 2 years and 14,000 miles longer than Lexus pays for maintenance for the UX (3/24,000 vs. 1/10,000).

The QX50’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 87 more horsepower (268 vs. 181) than the UX’s 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Motor Trend the Infiniti QX50 is faster than the Lexus UX:

The QX50 has 5.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the UX (16 vs. 10.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the QX50’s brake rotors are larger than those on the UX:

The QX50’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the UX are solid, not vented.

The QX50 stops shorter than the UX:

For better traction, the QX50 has larger standard tires than the UX (235/55R19 vs. 225/50R18). The QX50 Sport/Sensory/Autograph’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the UX (255/45R20 vs. 225/50R18).

The QX50 Sport/Sensory/Autograph’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the UX’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX50 has standard 19-inch wheels. Only 18-inch wheels are available on the UX. The QX50 Sport/Sensory/Autograph has standard 20-inch wheels.

The QX50 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The UX doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the QX50’s wheelbase is 6.3 inches longer than on the UX (110.2 inches vs. 103.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the QX50 is 3.4 inches wider in the front and 3 inches wider in the rear than the track on the UX.

The QX50 AWD handles at .84 G’s, while the UX 250h F Sport Handling AWD pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The QX50 AWD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.4 seconds quicker than the UX 250h F Sport Handling AWD (26.7 seconds @ .66 average G’s vs. 28.1 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the QX50 has an electronically controlled liquid-filled front engine mount. A computer-controlled electric current in the liquid changes its viscosity, allowing the mount to dampen the engine completely at all RPMs. The UX uses conventional solid rubber engine mounts.

The QX50 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The UX doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The QX50 has 14 cubic feet more passenger volume than the UX (104.4 vs. 90.4).

The QX50 has 3.8 inches more front headroom, 1.8 inches more front hip room, 2.9 inches more front shoulder room, 2.8 inches more rear headroom, 5.6 inches more rear legroom, 1.5 inches more rear hip room and 4.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the UX.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the QX50’s rear seats recline. The UX’s rear seats don’t recline.

The QX50 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the UX (31.4 vs. 17.1 cubic feet).

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the QX50’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The UX doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The QX50 AWD Autograph offers up to a 3000 lbs. towing capacity. The UX has no towing capacity.

The QX50 uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The UX uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The QX50’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The UX’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the QX50 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The UX doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Both the QX50 and the UX offer available heated front seats. The QX50 Sensory/Autograph also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the UX.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Infiniti QX50 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the UX.
