The GV60 Advanced/Performance’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The VF 8 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Genesis GV60 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 8 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the GV60 and VF 8 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The GV60 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The VF 8’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the GV60 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The GV60 has standard Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the GV60 and VF 8 have rear cross-traffic warning, but the GV60 has Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 8’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the GV60 and the VF 8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis GV60 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2024 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The VF 8 has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The GV60’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the VF 8’s (unlimited vs. 125000 miles).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the GV60 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. VinFast doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the VF 8.

There are over 60 times as many Genesis dealers as there are VinFast dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GV60’s warranty.

The GV60 Performance’s electric motors produces 27 more horsepower (429 vs. 402) than the VF 8 Plus’ optional electric motors.

For better traction, the GV60 has larger tires than the VF 8 (255/45R20 vs. 225/55R19). The GV60 Advance’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the VF 8 (255/45R20 vs. 245/45R20).

The GV60 Advance’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the VF 8 Eco’s standard 55 series tires.

For superior ride and handling, the Genesis GV60 has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The VinFast VF 8 has a rear torsion beam axle, with a semi-independent rear suspension.

The GV60 offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The VF 8’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Genesis GV60 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1050 to 1100 pounds less than the VinFast VF 8.

The GV60 is 9.2 inches shorter than the VF 8, making the GV60 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

For excellent aerodynamics, the GV60 has standard flush composite headlights. The VF 8 has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The GV60 Advanced/Performance uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The VF 8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GV60 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The VF 8 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The GV60’s power mirror controls are mounted on the door for easy access. The VF 8’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The GV60 Advanced/Performance has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the rear seat, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV60 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Consumer Reports® recommends the Genesis GV60, based on reliability, safety and performance.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the GV60 first among small premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The VF 8 isn’t in the top three.
