Compare the2024 Genesis Electrified G80VS 2023 Mercedes EQE Sedan

Both the Electrified G80 and EQE Sedan have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Electrified G80 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The EQE Sedan’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Electrified G80 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The EQE Sedan doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Electrified G80 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The EQE Sedan doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Electrified G80. But it costs extra on the EQE Sedan.

Both the Electrified G80 and the EQE Sedan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis Electrified G80 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2024 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The EQE Sedan has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The Electrified G80 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The EQE Sedan’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the Electrified G80 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the EQE Sedan. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the EQE Sedan ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The Electrified G80’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the EQE Sedan’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the Electrified G80 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the EQE Sedan.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 25 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 40 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is ranked 18th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Genesis 11 places higher in reliability than Mercedes.

The Electrified G80’s electric motors produces 77 more horsepower (365 vs. 288) and 99 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 417) than the EQE Sedan’s standard electric motor. The Electrified G80’s electric motors produces 77 more horsepower (365 vs. 288) than the EQE 350 4MATIC’s standard electric motors.

For better traction, the Electrified G80 has larger tires than the EQE Sedan (F:245/45R19 & R:275/40R19 vs. 235/50R19).

The Electrified G80’s 245/45R19 front and 275/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the EQE Sedan 350’s standard 50 series tires.

The Electrified G80 handles at .90 G’s, while the EQE 350 4MATIC pulls only .86 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Electrified G80 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The EQE Sedan doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Electrified G80 has .2 inches more front headroom, .4 inches more front legroom and 1.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the EQE Sedan.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Electrified G80. The EQE Sedan doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

A power rear sunshade and manual rear side window sunshades are standard in the Electrified G80 Prestige to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The EQE Sedan doesn’t offer a rear or rear side window sunshades.

The Electrified G80 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the EQE Sedan.

The Electrified G80 has a 115-volt a/c outlet, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The EQE Sedan doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
