The Rav4 Prime has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Rav4 Prime. But it costs extra on the Blazer EV.

Both the Rav4 Prime and the Blazer EV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Rav4 Prime’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Blazer EV’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the Rav4 Prime for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Chevrolet only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Blazer EV.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in long-term dependability. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Chevrolet is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Toyota second in overall reliability. Chevrolet is ranked 20th.

The Rav4 Prime’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid produces 14 more horsepower (302 vs. 288) than the Blazer EV’s optional electric motors.

The Rav4 Prime has a standard locking fuel door. The Blazer EV doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and a locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the Rav4 Prime’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Blazer EV:

The Rav4 Prime’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Blazer EV are solid, not vented.

The Rav4 Prime has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Blazer EV; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Rav4 Prime XSE handles at .83 G’s, while the Blazer EV RS 4x4 pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Rav4 Prime XSE executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Blazer EV RS 4x4 (27 seconds @ .65 average G’s vs. 27.4 seconds @ .63 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Rav4 Prime SE’s turning circle is 3.6 feet tighter than the Blazer EV’s (36.1 feet vs. 39.7 feet). The Rav4 Prime XSE’s turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the Blazer EV’s (37.4 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Rav4 Prime SE has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Blazer EV (8 vs. 7.9 inches), allowing the Rav4 Prime to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Rav4 Prime XSE’s minimum ground clearance is .3 inch higher than on the Blazer EV (8.2 vs. 7.9 inches).

The Toyota Rav4 Prime may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 to 1300 pounds less than the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

The Rav4 Prime is 11.3 inches shorter than the Blazer EV, making the Rav4 Prime easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Rav4 Prime uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Rav4 Prime’s rear seats recline. The Blazer EV’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Rav4 Prime has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Blazer EV with its rear seat up (33.5 vs. 25.5 cubic feet). The Rav4 Prime has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Blazer EV with its rear seat folded (69.8 vs. 59.1 cubic feet).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Rav4 Prime easier. The Rav4 Prime’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 27.8 inches, while the Blazer EV’s liftover is 29.7 inches.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Rav4 Prime. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Rav4 Prime’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Blazer EV’s (2500 vs. 1500 pounds).

The Rav4 Prime’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Blazer EV’s passenger windows don’t close automatically.

If the windows are left open on the Rav4 Prime the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Toyota service department.) The driver of the Blazer EV can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Blazer EV’s available cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Rav4 Prime XSE’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The Rav4 Prime’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Blazer EV.

The Rav4 Prime has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning is only available on the Blazer EV RS.

The Rav4 Prime XSE offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
