Both the Range Rover Evoque and X2 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover Evoque has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X2’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover Evoque. But it costs extra on the X2.

The Range Rover Evoque offers an optional 3D Surround Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The X2 only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The Range Rover Evoque’s blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. The X2 doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Range Rover Evoque’s standard Rear Traffic Monitor uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side and Rear Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. The X2 doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The Range Rover Evoque’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The X2 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and the X2 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

The Range Rover Evoque’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 18 more horsepower (246 vs. 228) and 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (269 vs. 258) than the X2’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

The Range Rover Evoque has 1.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the X2 (17.7 vs. 16.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque higher (7 out of 10) than the BMW X2 (3 to 7). This means the Range Rover Evoque produces up to 24.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the X2 every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the X2.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Evoque offers optional 21-inch wheels. The X2’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Evoque is 2.1 inches wider in the front and 2.5 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the X2.

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Evoque has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the X2 (8.3 vs. 7.2 inches), allowing the Range Rover Evoque to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Range Rover Evoque has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The X2 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the X2, the Range Rover Evoque has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The X2 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover Evoque to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The X2 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Evoque has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the X2 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover Evoque offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The X2 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Range Rover Evoque has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats cost extra on the X2. The Range Rover Evoque also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the X2.

The Range Rover Evoque has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the X2.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the X2.
