For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Lincoln Nautilus have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Buick Envision doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

Both the Nautilus and Envision have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Nautilus has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Envision’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Lincoln Nautilus has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Envision doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The Nautilus has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Envision doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the Nautilus and Envision have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Nautilus has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Envision’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

The Nautilus’ driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Envision doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Nautilus and the Envision have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available all wheel drive.

The Lincoln Nautilus weighs 417 to 825 pounds more than the Buick Envision. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Nautilus comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Envision’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Lincoln’s powertrain warranty covers the Nautilus 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Buick covers the Envision. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Envision ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Nautilus’ corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Envision’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Lincoln vehicles are more reliable than Buick vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Lincoln 1 place higher in reliability than Buick.

The Nautilus’ standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 22 more horsepower (250 vs. 228) and 17 lbs.-ft. more torque (275 vs. 258) than the Envision’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The Nautilus’ optional 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 82 more horsepower (310 vs. 228) than the Envision’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

The Nautilus has 4.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the Envision FWD’s standard fuel tank (20 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Nautilus has 3.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Envision AWD’s standard fuel tank (20 vs. 16.1 gallons).

The Nautilus Hybrid has a standard locking fuel door. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Envision. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The Nautilus has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The Envision doesn’t offer a CVT.

For better stopping power the Nautilus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the Envision:

For better traction, the Nautilus has larger tires than the Envision (255/60R19 vs. 235/60R18). The Nautilus’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Envision (255/60R19 vs. 245/45R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Nautilus has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Envision. The Nautilus’ optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Envision.

The Nautilus has variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Envision doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Nautilus’ wheelbase is 4.8 inches longer than on the Envision (114.2 inches vs. 109.4 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Nautilus is 1.9 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than on the Envision.

The Nautilus has 13.1 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Envision (113.5 vs. 100.4).

The Nautilus has 3.1 inches more front legroom, 1.7 inches more front hip room, 2.2 inches more front shoulder room, .9 inches more rear headroom, 3.8 inches more rear legroom, 8.9 inches more rear hip room and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Envision.

The Nautilus has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Envision with its rear seat up (36.4 vs. 25.2 cubic feet). The Nautilus has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Envision with its rear seat folded (71.3 vs. 52.7 cubic feet).

Maximum trailer towing in the Buick Envision is limited to 1500 pounds. The Nautilus offers up to a 1750 lbs. towing capacity.

The Nautilus’ front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Envision’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the Nautilus the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Envision can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Nautilus’ exterior PIN entry system. The Envision doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its OnStar® can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

The Nautilus’ rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Envision’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Nautilus has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Envision.

The Nautilus has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the Envision.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Lincoln Nautilus has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Envision Avenir offers wireless charging.
