Compare the2024 Genesis Electrified GV70VS 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Genesis Electrified GV70 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Ford Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Electrified GV70’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Electrified GV70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Electrified GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The Electrified GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Mustang Mach-E’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

The Electrified GV70 has standard Anti-whiplash Front Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-whiplash Front Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Electrified GV70. But it costs extra on the Mustang Mach-E.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Electrified GV70’s standard Downhill Brake Control allow you to creep down safely. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer Downhill Brake Control.

Both the Electrified GV70 and the Mustang Mach-E have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

For its performance in IIHS driver-side and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, updated side impact, headlight, daytime pedestrian crash prevention, and nighttime pedestrian crash prevention testing, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Electrified GV70 its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2023, a rating granted to only 44 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The Mustang Mach-E was last a “Top Safety Pick Plus” in 2019 but no longer qualifies.

The Electrified GV70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Mustang Mach-E’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the Electrified GV70 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Ford covers the Mustang Mach-E. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Mustang Mach-E ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Electrified GV70’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Mustang Mach-E’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the Electrified GV70 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Ford doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Mustang Mach-E.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 25 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is ranked 16th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Genesis 6 places higher in reliability than Ford.

The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 163 more horsepower (429 vs. 266) and 199 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 317) than the Mustang Mach-E’s standard electric motor. The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 163 more horsepower (429 vs. 266) and 88 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 428) than the Mustang Mach-E eAWD’s standard electric motors. The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 139 more horsepower (429 vs. 290) and 199 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 317) than the Mustang Mach-E ER’s standard electric motor.

The Electrified GV70 can travel longer on a full charge than the Mustang Mach-E eAWD (236 miles vs. 224 miles).

The Electrified GV70 has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

The Electrified GV70’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer launch control.

The Electrified GV70’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Mustang Mach-E are solid, not vented.

The Electrified GV70 stops shorter than the Mustang Mach-E:

For better traction, the Electrified GV70 has larger tires than the Mustang Mach-E (265/45R20 vs. 225/60R18). The Electrified GV70 AWD’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Mustang Mach-E (265/45R20 vs. 245/45R20).

The Electrified GV70’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Mustang Mach-E’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Electrified GV70 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Mustang Mach-E.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Electrified GV70 is 1.2 inches wider in the front and 1.8 inches wider in the rear than on the Mustang Mach-E.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige handles at .85 G’s, while the Mustang Mach-E 4 pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.7 seconds quicker than the Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 (26.3 seconds @ .74 average G’s vs. 28 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Electrified GV70 has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Mustang Mach-E (6.9 vs. 5.8 inches), allowing the Electrified GV70 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Electrified GV70 has .7 inches more front hip room, 1.5 inches more front shoulder room, .1 inches more rear headroom, .3 inches more rear hip room and 1 inch more rear shoulder room than the Mustang Mach-E.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Electrified GV70’s rear seats recline. The Mustang Mach-E’s rear seats don’t recline.

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the Electrified GV70’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Electrified GV70. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Electrified GV70 has a 3500 lbs. towing capacity. The Mustang Mach-E has no towing capacity.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige has a standard heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

When the Electrified GV70 is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Mustang Mach-E’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Electrified GV70’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Mustang Mach-E has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Electrified GV70 has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats are only available on the Mustang Mach-E Premium/CA RT 1/GT. The Electrified GV70 Prestige also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Mustang Mach-E.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the Electrified GV70 keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Electrified GV70 has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Mustang Mach-E.

The Electrified GV70 has a 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Electrified GV70’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Mustang Mach-E’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Electrified GV70 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2023. The Mustang Mach-E has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.
