Compare the2024 Jaguar XF VS 2023 Porsche Panamera

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the XF’s standard All Surface Progress Control allows you to creep down safely. The Panamera doesn’t offer All Surface Progress Control.

The XF has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Panamera’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the XF’s standard Rear Traffic Warning uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side and Rear Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. The Panamera doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The XF’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Panamera doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the XF and the Panamera have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

The XF comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Panamera’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the XF for 4 years and 50,000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the Panamera (5/60,000 vs. 1/10,000).

On the EPA test cycle the XF gets better mileage than the Panamera Sedan running its gasoline engine:

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jaguar XF higher (7 out of 10) than the Porsche Panamera (3 to 5). This means the XF produces up to 24.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Panamera every 15,000 miles.

For better stopping power the XF’s standard front brake rotors are larger than those on the Panamera:

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The XF has standard Emergency Brake Assist to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Panamera doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

The XF’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Panamera’s standard 45 series front tires.

The XF has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Panamera; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Jaguar XF may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 to 1550 pounds less than the Porsche Panamera.

The XF is 3.4 inches shorter than the Panamera, making the XF easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The XF has .2 inches more rear headroom, 2.1 inches more rear legroom and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Panamera.

With its sedan body style, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the XF offers cargo security. The Panamera’s hatchback body style, non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the XF uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Panamera doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The XF has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Panamera doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The XF’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Panamera.

If the windows are left open on the XF the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Panamera can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The XF’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Panamera’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the XF to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Panamera doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the XF has a standard rear wiper. A rear wiper costs extra on the Panamera.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The XF SE/R-Dynamic offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Panamera doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The XF has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Panamera.
