Compare the2024 Jaguar XF VS 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Jaguar XF have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Alfa Romeo Giulia doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

Both the XF and Giulia have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The XF has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Giulia’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the XF’s standard All Surface Progress Control allows you to creep down safely. The Giulia doesn’t offer All Surface Progress Control.

Both the XF and Giulia have rear cross-traffic warning, but the XF has Rear Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Giulia’s Rear Cross-Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the XF and the Giulia have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The XF comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Giulia’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

The XF’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Giulia’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the XF for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Alfa Romeo only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Giulia.

There are over 37 percent more Jaguar dealers than there are Alfa Romeo dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the XF’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are more reliable than Alfa Romeo With 12 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Jaguar higher than Alfa Romeo.

The XF P300’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 16 more horsepower (296 vs. 280) than the Giulia’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

Regenerative brakes improve the XF’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Giulia doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The XF has 4.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Giulia (19.5 vs. 15.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jaguar XF higher (7 out of 10) than the Alfa Romeo Giulia (5). This means the XF produces up to 8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Giulia every 15,000 miles.

For better traction, the XF has larger standard tires than the Giulia (245/40R19 vs. 225/50R17). The XF’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Giulia (255/35R20 vs. 225/40R19).

The XF’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Giulia’s standard 50 series tires. The XF’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Giulia’s optional 40 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the XF has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the Giulia. The XF’s optional 20-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the Giulia.

The XF has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Giulia; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the XF’s wheelbase is 5.5 inches longer than on the Giulia (116.5 inches vs. 111 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the XF is 1.8 inches wider in the front than on the Giulia.

The XF has .8 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom, 2.6 inches more rear legroom and 2.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the Giulia.

With its sedan body style, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the XF offers cargo security. The Giulia’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the XF’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Giulia doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the XF uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Giulia doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Giulia, the XF has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The XF offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Giulia doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the XF the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Giulia can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The XF SE/R-Dynamic offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Giulia doesn’t offer headlight washers.

A power rear sunshade is optional in the XF SE/R-Dynamic to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Giulia doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

When the XF is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Giulia’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.
