The Corvette’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The 720S doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The Corvette has standard Automatic Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. Chevrolet’s powertrain warranty covers the Corvette 2 years longer than McLaren covers the 720S. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the 720S ends after only 3 years.

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Chevrolet Corvette, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the 720S.

All wheel drive, available in the Corvette, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The McLaren 720S is not available with all wheel drive.

For better traction, the Corvette Z06/E-Ray’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 720S (F:275/30R20 & R:345/25R21 vs. F:245/35R19 & R:305/30R20).

The Corvette Z06/E-Ray’s 275/30R20 front and 345/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 720S’ 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Corvette Z06/E-Ray has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. The 720S’ largest wheels are only 19-inches in the front and 20-inches in the rear.

The Corvette has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The 720S doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Corvette can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The 720S doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The Corvette’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The 720S does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Corvette offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, turn signal and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The 720S doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

On a hot day the Corvette’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the 720S can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

The Corvette’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The 720S’ cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Corvette detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The 720S doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Corvette has standard extendable sun visors. The 720S doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Corvette’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The 720S’ visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The Corvette’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The 720S’ power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The Corvette’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The 720S has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Corvette keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The 720S doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the Corvette’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The 720S doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the Corvette has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The 720S doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

Standard smartphone integration for the Corvette allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The 720S doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Chevrolet Corvette offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console and for the rear passengers. The 720S doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Corvette second among compact premium sporty cars in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The 720S isn’t in the top three.

The Corvette was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2023 and 18 more times in the last 26 years. The 720S has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.

Motor Trend selected the Corvette as their 2020 Car of the Year. The 720S has never been chosen.
