Compare the2024 Jaguar F-TypeVS 2023 Audi TT

The F-Type has standard Autonomous Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The TT doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The F-Type’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The TT doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the F-Type’s standard Rear Traffic Warning uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side and Rear Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. The TT doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The F-Type’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The TT doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the F-Type and the TT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems and rearview cameras.

The F-Type comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The TT’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Type for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the TT.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar above average in initial quality. With 36 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is rated below average.

The F-Type P450’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 216 more horsepower (444 vs. 228) and 170 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 258) than the TT 45 TFSI’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The F-Type P450’s 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 156 more horsepower (444 vs. 288) and 148 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 280) than the TTS’ standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The F-Type R75’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 287 more horsepower (575 vs. 288) and 236 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 280) than the TTS’ standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the F-Type R75 is faster than the TT 45 TFSI :

In a Car and Driver race course test, the Jaguar F-Type Convertible was clocked 5.5 seconds faster than the Audi TTS Coupe (182.2 sec. vs. 187.7 sec.).

Regardless of its engine, the F-Type’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The TT RS doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The F-Type has 4 gallons more fuel capacity than the TT (18.5 vs. 14.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Jaguar F-Type, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the TT.

For better stopping power the F-Type’s brake rotors are larger than those on the TT:

The F-Type’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs standard on the TT 45 TSFI are solid, not vented.

The F-Type stops much shorter than the TT:

For better traction, the F-Type has larger tires than the TT (F:265/35R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. 245/40R18). The F-Type’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the TT (F:265/35R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. 255/30R20).

The F-Type’s 265/35R20 front and 305/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the TT 45 TSFI’s standard 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Type has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the TT 45 TSFI.

The F-Type’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The TT doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the F-Type’s wheelbase is 4.6 inches longer than on the TT (103.2 inches vs. 98.6 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the F-Type is .5 inches wider in the front and 3 inches wider in the rear than on the TT.

The F-Type R75 Coupe handles at 1.00 G’s, while the TT 45 TSFI Coupe pulls only .98 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The F-Type Coupe executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the TT 45 TSFI Coupe (24 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 24.6 seconds @ .79 average G’s).

The F-Type R75 Convertible executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the TT 45 TSFI Roadster (24 seconds @ .83 average G’s vs. 24.7 seconds @ .77 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the F-Type’s turning circle is 1.2 feet tighter than the TT’s (34.9 feet vs. 36.1 feet).

The F-Type Coupe has 1.7 inches more front legroom and 2.9 inches more front shoulder room than the TT Coupe.

The F-Type Convertible has .4 inches more front headroom, 1.7 inches more front legroom and 2.9 inches more front shoulder room than the TT Roadster.

The F-Type Coupe has a much larger trunk than the TT Coupe (14.4 vs. 12 cubic feet).

With its convertible body style and remote trunk release lockout, the F-Type offers cargo security. The TT’s non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the F-Type Coupe has a standard power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button. The TT doesn’t offer a power trunk.

The F-Type has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The TT doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

When three different drivers share the F-Type, the memory system makes it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver and front passenger’s seat positions, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle. The TT doesn’t offer a memory system.

The F-Type’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The TT doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F-Type has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The TT doesn’t offer headlight washers.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the F-Type detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The TT doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the F-Type keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The TT doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the F-Type’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The TT doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The F-Type’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The TT doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

The F-Type’s optional Park Assist can parallel park by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The TT doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The F-Type is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The TT doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Car and Driver performed a comparison test in its October 2016 issue and they ranked the Jaguar F-Type Convertible five places higher than the Audi TTS Coupe.

The Jaguar F-Type outsold the Audi TT by over two to one during 2022.
