The F-Type has standard Autonomous Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The R8 doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The F-Type’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The R8 doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The F-Type’s blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The R8 doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the F-Type’s standard Rear Traffic Warning uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side and Rear Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. The R8 doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The F-Type’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The R8 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the F-Type and the R8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The F-Type comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The R8’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Type for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the R8.

The R8’s redline is at 8700 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The F-Type has a 6800 RPM redline.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar above average in initial quality. With 36 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is rated below average.

The F-Type P450’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 22 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 406) than the R8 RWD Performance’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10. The F-Type P450’s 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 413) than the R8 Quattro/GT’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10. The F-Type R75’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 103 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 413) than the R8 Quattro/GT’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10.

On the EPA test cycle the F-Type gets better mileage than the R8:

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jaguar F-Type higher (3 out of 10) than the Audi R8 (1). This means the F-Type produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the R8 every 15,000 miles.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Jaguar F-Type, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the R8.

For better traction, the F-Type has larger front tires than the R8 (F:265/35R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. F:245/30R20 & R:305/30R20).

The F-Type has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The R8’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The F-Type’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The R8 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the F-Type is 1.1 inches wider in the rear than on the R8.

The R8 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the R8, the F-Type has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The F-Type’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The R8 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F-Type has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The R8 doesn’t offer headlight washers.
