Both the F-Pace and GLC have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The GLC’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the GLC.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the F-Pace’s standard All Surface Progress Control allows you to creep down safely. The GLC doesn’t offer All Surface Progress Control.

The F-Pace’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the GLC.

Both the F-Pace and the GLC have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The GLC’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

The F-Pace’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the GLC’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GLC.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar above average in initial quality. With 16 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

The F-Pace P400’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 140 more horsepower (395 vs. 255) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (406 vs. 295) than the GLC’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 287 more horsepower (542 vs. 255) and 221 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 295) than the GLC’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Car and Driver the F-Pace SVR 5.0 supercharged V8 is faster than the Mercedes GLC:

The F-Pace has 4.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the GLC (21.9 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the GLC (255/55R19 vs. 235/60R18). The F-Pace SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the GLC (F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21 vs. F:255/45R20 & R:285/40R20).

The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GLC’s standard 60 series tires. The F-Pace SVR’s optional 265/40R22 front and 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the GLC’s optional 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the GLC. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the GLC.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the F-Pace can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The GLC doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the GLC; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The F-Pace offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The GLC’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The F-Pace SVR handles at .89 G’s, while the GLC 300 4MATIC pulls only .88 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The design of the Jaguar F-Pace amounts to more than styling. The F-Pace has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .36 Cd. That is lower than the GLC (.39). A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the F-Pace get better fuel mileage.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The GLC doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the GLC with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 21.9 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the GLC with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 59.3 cubic feet).

The F-Pace has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The GLC doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the F-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The GLC doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the F-Pace has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the GLC only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The F-Pace has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the GLC.
