In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Titan XD are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The F-Super Duty doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Nissan Titan XD has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Super Duty doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Titan XD has standard Rear Automatic Braking that use rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. The F-Super Duty doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the Titan XD. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the F-Super Duty. Four-wheel drive of any type costs extra on the F-Super Duty.

The Titan XD’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the F-Super Duty.

The Titan XD has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the F-Super Duty’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Titan XD has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert, helping the driver avoid collisions. Ford charges extra for rear cross-path warning on the F-Super Duty.

Both the Titan XD and the F-Super Duty have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, rearview cameras, available daytime running lights and around view monitors.

The Titan XD comes with a full 5-year/100,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The F-Super Duty’s 3-year basic warranty expires 2 years or 64000 miles sooner.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the Titan XD has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of some of the engines in the F-Super Duty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Titan XD has a 200-amp alternator. The F-Super Duty’s standard 157-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Titan XD has a 710-amp battery. The F-Super Duty only offers a standard 650-amp battery.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Titan XD second among large light duty pickups in their 2023 Initial Quality Study. The F-Super Duty isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Nissan above average in initial quality. With 21 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Nissan vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Nissan 3 places higher in reliability than Ford.

The Titan XD’s 5.6 DOHC V8 produces 15 more horsepower (400 vs. 385) than the F-Super Duty’s standard 6.2 SOHC V8.

The Titan XD stops much shorter than the F-Super Duty:

The Titan XD’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 60 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Super Duty’s optional 65 series tires.

The Titan XD Platinum executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2 seconds quicker than the F-250 Standard Bed XLT Crew Cab 4x4 (28.2 seconds @ .6 average G’s vs. 30.2 seconds @ .53 average G’s).

To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the Titan XD has an electronically controlled liquid-filled main engine mount. A computer-controlled electric current in the liquid changes its viscosity, allowing the mount to dampen the engine completely at all RPMs. The F-Super Duty uses conventional solid rubber engine mounts.

The Titan XD’s standard power windows allow the driver or passenger to lower and raise the windows without leaning over or being distracted. Power windows cost extra on the F-Super Duty.

The Titan XD has standard power remote mirrors. The F-Super Duty only comes with remote mirrors at extra cost. Without them the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The Titan XD’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Ford charges extra for heated mirrors on the F-Super Duty.

When the Titan XD with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The F-Super Duty’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Titan XD’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The F-Super Duty offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.
