For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Nissan Titan XD are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Chevrolet Silverado Limited doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Nissan Titan XD has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Silverado Limited doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Titan XD has standard Rear Automatic Braking that use rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. The Silverado Limited doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Titan XD. But it costs extra on the Silverado Limited.

The Titan XD’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Silverado Limited and is only available on Silverado Limited LTZ/High Country.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Titan XD has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert, helping the driver avoid collisions. Chevrolet charges extra for rear cross-path warning on the Silverado Limited and its not available on the Custom.

The Titan XD’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Silverado Limited doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Titan XD and the Silverado Limited have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, rearview cameras, available daytime running lights and around view monitors.

The Nissan Titan XD weighs 884 to 2357 pounds more than the Chevrolet Silverado Limited. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Titan XD comes with a full 5-year/100,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Silverado Limited’s 3-year basic warranty expires 2 years or 64000 miles sooner.

The Titan XD’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Silverado Limited’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the Titan XD has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of some of the engines in the Silverado Limited.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Titan XD’s reliability 18 points higher than the Silverado Limited.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Titan XD second among large light duty pickups in their 2023 Initial Quality Study. The Silverado Limited isn’t in the top three.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Nissan vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Nissan 5 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

The Titan XD’s 5.6 DOHC V8 produces 90 more horsepower (400 vs. 310) and 65 lbs.-ft. more torque (413 vs. 348) than the Silverado Limited’s standard 2.7 turbo 4-cylinder. The Titan XD’s 5.6 DOHC V8 produces 45 more horsepower (400 vs. 355) and 30 lbs.-ft. more torque (413 vs. 383) than the Silverado Limited’s optional 5.3 V8.

The Titan XD has 2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Silverado Limited Double/Crew Cab’s standard fuel tank (26 vs. 24 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Titan XD has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Titan XD flat and controlled during cornering. The Silverado Limited’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The Titan XD Platinum handles at .75 G’s, while the Silverado 1500 Limited Short Bed LT Trail Boss Crew Cab pulls only .69 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Titan XD Platinum executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.8 seconds quicker than the Silverado 1500 Limited Short Bed LT Trail Boss Crew Cab (28.2 seconds @ .6 average G’s vs. 30 seconds @ .55 average G’s).

The Nissan Titan XD has a standard tailgate assist feature, which prevents the heavy tailgate from falling with a crash and causing injury. It allows adults and children to easily open and close the tailgate with one hand to better facilitate loading and unloading. Tailgate assist costs extra on the Chevrolet Silverado Limited.

Both the Titan XD and Silverado Limited have bed indentations that accommodate 2x4’s for two-tiered loading, but the Titan XD also has indentations to separate the cargo box into three different sections length-wise.

The Titan XD’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Silverado Limited’s (11050 vs. 7400 pounds).

The Titan XD has a much higher standard payload capacity than the Silverado 1500 Limited Short Bed Crew Cab 4x4 (2260 vs. 2020 lbs.).

The Titan XD has a higher optional payload capacity than the Silverado 1500 Limited Short Bed Crew Cab 4x4 (2260 vs. 2170 lbs.).

The Titan XD’s standard power windows allow the driver or passenger to lower and raise the windows without leaning over or being distracted. Power windows cost extra on the Silverado Limited.

The Titan XD’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Silverado Limited’s basic optional power windows’ front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

If the front windows are left open on the Titan XD the driver can close them at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Silverado Limited can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Titan XD’s standard power locks allow the driver or passenger to lock or unlock all the doors at a touch without leaning over, or reaching to the back seat. Power locks cost extra on the Silverado Limited.

The Titan XD’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Silverado Limited’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted. The Titan XD’s optional wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield.

The Titan XD has standard power remote mirrors. The Silverado Limited only comes with remote mirrors at extra cost. Without them the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The Titan XD’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Silverado Limited.

The Titan XD has a standard center folding armrest for the driver and front passenger. A center armrest helps combat driver fatigue. The Silverado Limited Work Truck doesn’t offer a front seat center armrest.

Insurance will cost less for the Titan XD owner. The Car Book by Jack Gillis rates the Titan XD with a number “8” insurance rate while the Silverado Limited is rated higher at a number “10” rate.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Titan XD is less expensive to operate than the Silverado Limited because it costs $164 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost less on the Titan XD than the Silverado Limited, including $67 less for a water pump, $131 less for a muffler, $91 less for front brake pads, $90 less for fuel injection and $65 less for a fuel pump.
