The Nissan Titan XD has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Silverado HD doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Titan XD has standard Rear Automatic Braking that use rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. The Silverado HD doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Titan XD. But it costs extra on the Silverado HD.

The Titan XD’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Silverado HD and is only available on Silverado HD LTZ/High Country.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Titan XD has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert, helping the driver avoid collisions. Chevrolet charges extra for Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the Silverado HD and its not available on the Custom.

The Titan XD’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Silverado HD doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Titan XD and the Silverado HD have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, rearview cameras, available daytime running lights and around view monitors.

The Titan XD comes with a full 5-year/100,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Silverado HD’s 3-year basic warranty expires 2 years or 64000 miles sooner.

The Titan XD’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Silverado HD’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the Titan XD has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the engine in the Silverado HD.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Titan XD has a 200-amp alternator. The Silverado HD’s standard 170-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Titan XD second among large light duty pickups in their 2023 Initial Quality Study. The Silverado HD isn’t in the top three in its category.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Nissan vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Nissan 5 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

For better traction, the Titan XD has larger standard tires than the Silverado HD (245/75R17 vs. 235/80R17).

The Titan XD’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 75 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Silverado 3500 HD’s standard 80 series tires. The Titan XD’s optional tires have a lower 60 series profile than the Silverado HD’s optional 65 series tires.

The Titan XD has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Titan XD flat and controlled during cornering. The Silverado HD’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The front suspension of the Titan XD uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the Silverado HD, which uses torsion bars in front. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The Titan XD is 6.6 inches shorter than the Silverado 2500HD Standard Bed Crew Cab, making the Titan XD easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Titan XD is 9 inches narrower on average than the Silverado HD, making the Titan XD easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the Titan XD has an electronically controlled liquid-filled main engine mount. A computer-controlled electric current in the liquid changes its viscosity, allowing the mount to dampen the engine completely at all RPMs. The Silverado HD uses conventional solid rubber engine mounts.

The Nissan Titan XD has a standard tailgate assist feature, which prevents the heavy tailgate from falling with a crash and causing injury. It allows adults and children to easily open and close the tailgate with one hand to better facilitate loading and unloading. Tailgate assist costs extra on the Chevrolet Silverado HD.

Both the Titan XD and Silverado HD have bed indentations that accommodate 2x4’s for two-tiered loading, but the Titan XD also has indentations to separate the cargo box into three different sections length-wise.

The Titan XD’s standard power windows allow the driver or passenger to lower and raise the windows without leaning over or being distracted. Power windows cost extra on the Silverado HD.

The Titan XD’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Silverado HD’s basic optional power windows’ front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

If the front windows are left open on the Titan XD the driver can close them at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Silverado HD can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Titan XD’s standard power locks allow the driver or passenger to lock or unlock all the doors at a touch without leaning over, or reaching to the back seat. Power locks cost extra on the Silverado HD.

The Titan XD’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Silverado HD’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted. The Titan XD’s optional wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield.

The Titan XD has standard power remote mirrors. The Silverado HD only comes with remote mirrors at extra cost. Without them the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The Titan XD’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Silverado HD.

The Titan XD has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The Silverado HD Custom/Work Truck doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Titan XD has a standard Intelligent Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Silverado HD doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
