Compare the2024 Nissan GT-RVS 2023 Jaguar F-Type

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the GT-R. But it costs extra on the F-Type.

Both the GT-R and the F-Type have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

There are almost 6 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT-R’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the GT-R’s reliability 20 points higher than the F-Type.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Nissan above average in initial quality. With 5 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar With 28 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Nissan higher than Jaguar.

The GT-R’s standard 3.8 turbo V6 produces 121 more horsepower (565 vs. 444) and 39 lbs.-ft. more torque (467 vs. 428) than the F-Type P450’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8. The GT-R NISMO’s standard 3.8 turbo V6 produces 25 more horsepower (600 vs. 575) than the F-Type R’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

As tested in Motor Trend the Nissan GT-R (base engine) is faster than the F-Type R:

In a Motor Trend race course test, the Nissan GT-R Premium was clocked 1.67 seconds faster than the Jaguar F-Type Coupe (97.08 sec. vs. 98.75 sec.).

The GT-R has a gallon more fuel capacity than the F-Type (19.5 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The GT-R offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The F-Type doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

For better stopping power the GT-R’s brake rotors are larger than those on the F-Type:

The GT-R NISMO/T-Spec has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The F-Type doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The GT-R stops shorter than the F-Type:

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the GT-R can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The F-Type doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GT-R’s wheelbase is 6.2 inches longer than on the F-Type (109.4 inches vs. 103.2 inches).

The GT-R NISMO handles at 1.02 G’s, while the F-Type Coupe pulls only .96 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The GT-R NISMO executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.5 seconds quicker than the F-Type R Coupe (22.9 seconds @ .92 average G’s vs. 24.4 seconds @ .82 average G’s).

The design of the Nissan GT-R amounts to more than styling. The GT-R has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .26 Cd. That is significantly lower than the F-Type (.35 to .36). A more efficient exterior helps the GT-R go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the GT-R get better fuel mileage.

The GT-R uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The F-Type doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GT-R has standard seating for 4 passengers; the F-Type can only carry 2.

The GT-R has 1.3 inches more front headroom and 1.8 inches more front legroom than the F-Type Coupe.

The GT-R’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The F-Type does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The GT-R’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. Jaguar does not offer a locking feature on the F-Type’s standard power windows.

The GT-R’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The F-Type’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The GT-R has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the F-Type.

With standard voice command, the GT-R offers the driver hands free control of the radio and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The F-Type doesn’t offer a voice control system.
