Both the Hummer EV Pickup and F-150 SuperCrew have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Hummer EV Pickup has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The F-150’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Hummer EV Pickup are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The F-150 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Hummer EV Pickup. But it costs extra on the F-150.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the F-150.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Hummer EV Pickup has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert, helping the driver avoid collisions. Ford charges extra for Cross Traffic Alert on the F-150.

Both the Hummer EV Pickup and the F-150 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup weighs 3093 to 4955 pounds more than the Ford F-150. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The Hummer EV Pickup’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the F-150’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that GMC vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks GMC above average in initial quality. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is rated below average.

Engine

The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produces 710 more horsepower (1000 vs. 290) and 11235 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 265) than the F-150’s standard 3.3 DOHC V6. The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produces 675 more horsepower (1000 vs. 325) and 11100 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 400) than the F-150’s optional 2.7 turbo V6. The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produces 600 more horsepower (1000 vs. 400) and 11090 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 410) than the F-150’s optional 5.0 DOHC V8. The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produces 570 more horsepower (1000 vs. 430) and 10930 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 570) than the F-150’s optional 3.5 turbo V6 hybrid.

The Hummer EV Pickup can travel with zero emissions for 298 to 314 miles (dependent on model). The F-150 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the GMC Hummer EV Pickup higher (10 out of 10) than the Ford F-150 (5 to 6). This means the Hummer EV Pickup produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the F-150 every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The Hummer EV Pickup’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The F-150 doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Hummer EV Pickup’s brake rotors are larger than those on the F-150:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Hummer EV Pickup has larger tires than the F-150 (305/70R18 vs. 245/70R17). The Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the F-150 (305/70R18 vs. 275/60R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X has standard 18-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the F-150.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup’s wheels have 8 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Ford F-150 only has 6 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The F-150 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Suspension and Handling

For superior ride and handling, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Ford F-150 has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The Hummer EV Pickup has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Hummer EV Pickup flat and controlled during cornering. The F-150’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The front and rear suspension of the Hummer EV Pickup uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the F-150, which uses leaf springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Hummer EV Pickup’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F-150 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Hummer EV Pickup is 5.1 inches wider in the front and 4.6 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the F-150.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the F-150’s (57.1% to 42.9%). This gives the Hummer EV Pickup more stable handling and braking.

The Hummer EV Pickup handles at .73 G’s, while the F-150 5.5-foot Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 pulls only .72 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Hummer EV Pickup 2’s turning circle is 3.5 feet tighter than the F-150 5.5-foot SuperCrew’s (44.3 feet vs. 47.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Hummer EV Pickup 2 has a 1.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the F-150 8-foot SuperCab (10.1 vs. 8.7 inches), allowing the Hummer EV Pickup to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X’s minimum ground clearance is 6.5 inches higher than on the F-150 6.5-foot Regular Cab (15.9 vs. 9.4 inches).

Chassis

The Hummer EV Pickup is 1 foot, 2.9 inches shorter than the F-150 5.5-foot SuperCrew, making the Hummer EV Pickup easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Hummer EV Pickup uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The F-150 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Cargo Capacity

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard tailgate assist feature, which folds out and allows for much easier access to the cargo area. A Tailgate Step costs extra on the Ford F-150.

Towing

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the F-150’s (7500 vs. 5000 pounds).

Ergonomics

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard power windows allow the driver or passenger to lower and raise the windows without leaning over or being distracted. Power windows cost extra on the F-150.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s front and rear power windows all lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The F-150’s basic optional power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to open them fully. The F-150 XLT/Lariat/King Ranch/Platinum’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to lower them fully.

On a hot day the Hummer EV Pickup’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the F-150 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The F-150’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s LED headlights produce a whiter, brighter light (up to 3x) using five times less power than the F-150’s standard halogen headlights. LED lights also light instantly and last over twenty times longer than halogen.

The Hummer EV Pickup has standard power remote mirrors. The F-150 only comes with remote mirrors at extra cost. Without them the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Ford charges extra for heated mirrors on the F-150.

When the Hummer EV Pickup is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The F-150’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the F-150.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the F-150.

Bluetooth wireless connectivity is standard on the Hummer EV Pickup, connecting the driver and passenger’s cell phones to the vehicle systems. This allows them to use the vehicle’s stereo and hand controls to place calls safely and easily. Bluetooth costs extra on the F-150.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the F-150 and isn’t available on the F-150 XL/XLT.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The F-150 (except XL/XLT)’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.
