Both the Hummer EV Pickup and Silverado 1500 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Hummer EV Pickup has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Silverado 1500’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Hummer EV Pickup. But it costs extra on the Silverado 1500.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Silverado 1500’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Hummer EV Pickup has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert, helping the driver avoid collisions. Chevrolet charges extra for Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the Silverado 1500 and its not available on the Custom.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Hummer EV Pickup and the Silverado 1500 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup weighs 3446 to 4576 pounds more than the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produces 690 more horsepower (1000 vs. 310) and 11070 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 430) than the Silverado 1500’s standard 2.7 turbo 4-cylinder. The Hummer EV Pickup can travel with zero emissions for 298 to 314 miles (dependent on model). The Silverado 1500 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Hummer EV Pickup’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the GMC Hummer EV Pickup higher (10 out of 10) than the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (5 to 7). This means the Hummer EV Pickup produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Silverado 1500 every 15,000 miles.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the Hummer EV Pickup has larger tires than the Silverado 1500 (305/70R18 vs. 255/70R17). The Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Silverado 1500 (305/70R18 vs. 275/65R18).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X has standard 18-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the Silverado 1500.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup’s wheels have 8 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 only has 6 wheel lugs per wheel.

For superior ride and handling, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The Hummer EV Pickup has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Hummer EV Pickup flat and controlled during cornering. The Silverado 1500’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The front and rear suspension of the Hummer EV Pickup uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the Silverado 1500, which uses leaf springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Hummer EV Pickup’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better maneuverability, the Hummer EV Pickup 2’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the Silverado 1500 Short Box Crew Cab’s (44.3 feet vs. 46.3 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Hummer EV Pickup 2 has a 2.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Silverado 1500 Standard Box Crew Cab (10.1 vs. 8 inches), allowing the Hummer EV Pickup to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X’s minimum ground clearance is 4.7 inches higher than on the Silverado 1500 Short Box Crew Cab Lifted (15.9 vs. 11.2 inches).

The Hummer EV Pickup is 1 foot, 3 inches shorter than the Silverado 1500 Short Box Crew Cab, making the Hummer EV Pickup easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Hummer EV Pickup uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard EZ Lift Tailgate, which prevents the heavy tailgate from falling with a crash and causing injury. It allows adults and children to easily open and close the tailgate with one hand to better facilitate loading and unloading. Tailgate assist costs extra on the Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Silverado 1500’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s LED headlights produce a whiter, brighter light (up to 3x) using five times less power than the Silverado 1500 Work Truck/Custom’s standard halogen headlights. LED lights also light instantly and last over twenty times longer than halogen.

The Hummer EV Pickup has standard power remote mirrors. The Silverado 1500 only comes with remote mirrors at extra cost. Without them the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Silverado 1500.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the Silverado 1500 LT/RST/ZR2/LTZ/High Country.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning is only available on the Silverado 1500 LT/RST/ZR2/LTZ/High Country.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Silverado 1500 and isn’t available on the Silverado 1500 W/T/Custom.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
