A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the XT4 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The XT4 Premium Luxury/Sport offers optional Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the XT4 and the Range Rover Evoque have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the XT4 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Land Rover covers the Range Rover Evoque. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Range Rover Evoque ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 3 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Land Rover dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the XT4’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the XT4 third among compact premium suvs in their 2023 Initial Quality Study. The Range Rover Evoque isn’t in the top three in its category.

Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in long-term dependability. With 24 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Land Rover is rated below average.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the XT4’s fuel efficiency. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Cadillac XT4 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The Range Rover Evoque requires premium, which can cost on average about 82.8 cents more per gallon.

The XT4 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The XT4’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Range Rover Evoque are solid, not vented.

The XT4 stops much shorter than the Range Rover Evoque:

The XT4 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the XT4’s wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than on the Range Rover Evoque (109.4 inches vs. 105.5 inches).

The XT4 Sport AWD handles at .89 G’s, while the Range Rover Evoque R-Dynamic HST pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The XT4 Sport AWD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.2 seconds quicker than the Range Rover Evoque SE (26.3 seconds @ .66 average G’s vs. 28.5 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

The Cadillac XT4 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 250 pounds less than the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.

The front grille of the XT4 Premium Luxury/Sport uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The XT4 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The XT4 has .5 inches more front headroom, 4.1 inches more front legroom, .4 inches more front shoulder room and 5.5 inches more rear legroom than the Range Rover Evoque.

The front step up height for the XT4 is 1.7 inches lower than the Range Rover Evoque (17” vs. 18.7”). The XT4’s rear step up height is 1 inches lower than the Range Rover Evoque’s (17.5” vs. 18.5”).

The XT4 has a larger cargo volume than the Range Rover Evoque with its rear seat up (22.5 vs. 21.6 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the XT4. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Cadillac service is better than Land Rover. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac second in service department satisfaction. With a 65% lower rating, Land Rover is ranked 30th.

The XT4’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Range Rover Evoque does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The XT4’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Range Rover Evoque’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Consumer Reports rated the XT4’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the Range Rover Evoque’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the XT4 (except Luxury) offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the XT4 has standard extendable sun visors. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the XT4 Premium Luxury/Sport keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The XT4 Premium Luxury/Sport offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Range Rover Evoque.

The XT4 is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the XT4 is less expensive to operate than the Range Rover Evoque because typical repairs cost much less on the XT4 than the Range Rover Evoque, including $85 less for front brake pads, $183 less for a starter, $91 less for fuel injection, $341 less for a fuel pump and $440 less for front struts.

The Cadillac XT4 outsold the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque by almost four to one during 2022.
