To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Envista has a standard 760-amp battery. The Equinox’s 700-amp battery isn’t as powerful.
J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Buick vehicles are better in initial quality than Chevrolet vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Buick fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 4 more problems per 100 vehicles, Chevrolet is ranked fifth.
J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Buick vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Buick second in reliability, above the industry average. With 24 more problems per 100 vehicles, Chevrolet is ranked 10th.
From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Buick vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Buick 9 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the Envista’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Equinox (245/45R19 vs. 235/50R19).
The Envista’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 60 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Equinox LS/LT’s standard 65 series tires. The Envista’s optional tires have a lower 45 series profile than the Equinox’s optional 50 series tires.
Suspension and Handling
The Envista Sport Touring handles at .80 G’s, while the Equinox LT AWD pulls only .77 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.
Chassis
The Buick Envista may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 400 pounds less than the Chevrolet Equinox.
Servicing Ease
J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Buick service is better than Chevrolet. J.D. Power ranks Buick fifth in service department satisfaction. With a 20% lower rating, Chevrolet is ranked 16th.
Ergonomics
The Envista’s optional wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield. The Equinox’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.
The Envista’s standard automatic temperature control maintains the temperature you set, automatically controlling fan speed, vents and temperature to maintain a consistent, comfortable environment. The Equinox LS doesn’t offer automatic air conditioning.
