For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Cadillac Lyriq are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 8 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Lyriq and VF 8 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Lyriq has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The VF 8’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Lyriq are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Both the Lyriq and VF 8 have Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but the Lyriq has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 8’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Lyriq and the VF 8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Lyriq’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the VF 8’s (unlimited vs. 125000 miles).

The Lyriq’s optional electric motors produces 152 more horsepower (500 vs. 348) and 81 lbs.-ft. more torque (450 vs. 369) than the VF 8 Eco’s standard electric motors.

For better traction, the Lyriq has larger standard tires than the VF 8 (265/50R20 vs. 225/55R19). The Lyriq Luxury/Sport’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the VF 8 (275/40R22 vs. 245/45R20).

The Lyriq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the VF 8 Eco’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Lyriq has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the VF 8 Eco. The Lyriq Luxury/Sport’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the VF 8 Plus.

The Cadillac Lyriq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The VinFast VF 8 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Lyriq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The VF 8 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For superior ride and handling, the Cadillac Lyriq has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The VinFast VF 8 has a rear torsion beam axle, with a semi-independent rear suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Lyriq’s wheelbase is 5.7 inches longer than on the VF 8 (121.8 inches vs. 116.1 inches).

For greater off-road capability the Lyriq has a 1.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the VF 8 (7 vs. 5.6 inches), allowing the Lyriq to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Cadillac Lyriq may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 150 to 250 pounds less than the VinFast VF 8.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Lyriq has standard flush composite headlights. The VF 8 has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The Lyriq Luxury/Sport offers available computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The VF 8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Lyriq Luxury/Sport’s optional rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The VF 8 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Lyriq uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The VF 8 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The VF 8’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Lyriq Luxury/Sport’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The Lyriq’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The VF 8’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Lyriq offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Lyriq is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
