In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the F-150 Lightning are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Endurance doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The F-150 Lightning has standard Pre-Collision Assist, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Endurance doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The F-150 Lightning has standard Post-Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Endurance doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The F-150 Lightning has a standard Reverse Brake Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Endurance doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The F-150 Lightning’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The Endurance doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The F-150 Lightning offers an optional 360-Degree Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Endurance only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the F-150 Lightning’s standard Cross Traffic Alert uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side and Cross Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. The Endurance doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The F-150 Lightning’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Endurance doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

The F-150 Lightning has standard 911 Assist, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Endurance doesn’t offer a GPS response system, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the F-150 Lightning and the Endurance have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and rearview cameras.

The F-150 Lightning Short Bed Platinum’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Endurance’s 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-150 Lightning Short Bed Platinum has standard 22-inch wheels. The Endurance’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

For superior ride and handling, the Ford F-150 Lightning has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Lordstown Endurance has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The F-150 Lightning has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the F-150 Lightning flat and controlled during cornering. The Endurance’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The front and rear suspension of the F-150 Lightning uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the Endurance, which uses leaf springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

Maximum trailer towing in the Lordstown Endurance is limited to 8000 pounds. The F-150 Lightning Short Bed offers up to a 10,000 lbs. towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the F-150 Lightning uses the AdvanceTrac® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Endurance doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The F-150 Lightning has a much higher standard payload capacity than the Endurance (2000 vs. 1050 lbs.).

The F-150 Lightning has a much higher optional payload capacity than the Endurance (2235 vs. 1050 lbs.).

The F-150 Lightning has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Endurance doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

To help each driver find a more comfortable driving position, the F-150 Lightning offers a telescoping steering wheel. Much better than just a tilt steering wheel or adjustable seat, this allows a short driver to sit further from the steering wheel while maintaining contact with the pedals. The Endurance doesn’t offer a telescoping steering wheel.

When three different drivers share the F-150 Lightning Lariat/Platinum, the memory system makes it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position, steering wheel position (with optional power wheel adjuster), foot pedal distance and outside mirror angle. The Endurance doesn’t offer a memory system.

The F-150 Lightning’s front power windows open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Endurance’s passenger windows don’t open or close automatically.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the F-150 Lightning XLT/Lariat/Platinum’s exterior PIN entry system. The Endurance doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system.

The F-150 Lightning’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Endurance’s fixed intermittent wipers only have one fixed delay setting, so the driver will have to manually switch them between slow and intermittent. The F-150 Lightning Platinum’s standard wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield.

The F-150 Lightning’s optional outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. The Endurance doesn’t offer heated side mirrors.

The F-150 Lightning’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Endurance doesn’t offer the luxury of automatic dimming mirrors.

On extremely cold winter days, the F-150 Lightning’s optional (except Pro) heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the vehicle heater warms up. The Endurance doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The F-150 Lightning’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Endurance doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

The F-150 Lightning’s standard automatic temperature control maintains the temperature you set, automatically controlling fan speed, vents and temperature to maintain a consistent, comfortable environment. The Endurance doesn’t offer automatic air conditioning.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the F-150 Lightning (except Pro) offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Endurance doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

The F-150 Lightning’s standard GPS navigation system has a real-time traffic update feature that plots alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.) The Endurance’s available navigation system doesn’t offer real-time traffic updates.

The F-150 Lightning Platinum’s Active Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Endurance doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
