The EQB can travel with zero emissions for 221 to 245 miles (dependent on model). The RX can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the EQB’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Lexus only offers a regenerative brake system on the RX Hybrid.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Mercedes EQB higher (10 out of 10) than the Lexus RX (5 to 7). This means the EQB produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the RX every 15,000 miles.

The EQB’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the RX’s standard 65 series tires. The EQB’s optional tires have a lower 50 series profile than the RX’s optional 55 series tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the EQB can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The RX doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The EQB’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The RX doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EQB’s wheelbase is 1.5 inches longer than on the RX (111.3 inches vs. 109.8 inches).

The EQB 350 4MATIC handles at .85 G’s, while the RX 350 F Sport AWD pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The EQB is 8.1 inches shorter than the RX, making the EQB easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The EQB offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the RX can only carry 5.

The EQB has 1.3 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more rear headroom and .1 inches more rear legroom than the RX.

The EQB’s cargo area provides more volume than the RX.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the RX, the EQB has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, suspension setting, power steering assist, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The EQB offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the RX.

The EQB’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, stopping and changing direction automatically. The RX doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
